Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Baywood Lane bedding — from how it works to how to care for it.
Our duvet cover uses a patented attach-and-detach system. You lay the cover flat, place the insert on top, and secure them together at multiple connection points. No reaching inside corners, no shaking, no wrestling. When it's time to wash, detach the cover and toss it in the machine. The whole process takes seconds, not minutes.
Our duvet covers are made from 100% cotton with a 200 thread count and a soft wash finish. They're OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, which means they've been tested for harmful substances and are safe for you and your family. Our duvet inserts use a medium-weight, down alternative fill made from microfiber polyester with a 100% cotton shell.
Machine wash cold with similar colors. Tumble dry on low. You can use non-chlorine bleach when needed. Do not dry clean. The cover detaches from the insert in seconds, so there's no reason to put off wash day. We recommend washing your duvet cover every one to two weeks.
We offer duvet covers, duvet inserts, and shams in Twin, Queen, and King sizes. Our Queen duvet cover measures approximately 94" x 94" (239 cm x 239 cm), and our Queen duvet insert measures approximately 94" x 90". Check individual product pages for exact dimensions in all sizes.
That's entirely up to you. A top sheet creates a buffer that keeps your duvet cover cleaner longer, so you can wash it every two to three weeks instead of weekly. Without a top sheet, the cover touches your skin directly and should be washed every one to two weeks. Either way, our attach-and-detach system makes washing the cover so easy that it's no big deal either way.
Our duvet covers use a soft wash finish, which means the cotton has already been pre-relaxed during manufacturing. This minimizes shrinkage during home washing. Wash in cold water and tumble dry on low as directed, and you shouldn't see any meaningful shrinkage.
A duvet cover is a removable fabric shell that goes over a separate insert. A comforter is a single all-in-one piece with the fill and fabric sewn together. The biggest practical difference is washing: a duvet cover comes off and goes in the machine like a sheet, while a comforter has to be washed whole — which usually means a trip to the laundromat. Duvet covers also let you change your bedroom's look by swapping just the cover.
Our duvet covers are designed to work with Baywood Lane inserts using our patented attachment system. If you're using a third-party insert, the cover will still function as a standard duvet cover — it just won't have the attach-and-detach capability. For the full easy-on, easy-off experience, we recommend pairing our cover with our insert.
If you're using a duvet cover and washing it regularly, your insert only needs washing two to three times a year. The cover handles day-to-day hygiene while the insert stays protected inside. When you do wash the insert, use a large-capacity machine, cold water, gentle cycle, and tumble dry on low.
Most bedding brands compete on thread count, materials, or aesthetic. We compete on a functional innovation that nobody else has — a patented design that lets the duvet cover attach and detach from the insert in seconds. This solves the number one reason people avoid washing their duvet covers: the hassle of getting them on and off. We use quality, eco-friendly materials at an accessible price point, but the real difference is that our bedding is designed to work with your life, not against it.
